 Monctonians
are blessed with the abundance of various religious and spiritual institutions
that serve their spiritual needs.
There are 115,815 people that have religion affiliation in Moncton (the total
population of the city is over 120,000 people). Over 10,000 people are not
religious. That makes Moncton a very religious city, if you compare it with
Toronto, where there are almost 800,000 non-religiouus people, only five times
the number of religious citizens.

Religion and gender in Moncton
There are a little bit more women than men that identify themselves with the
Church: 59,840 women and 55,975 men. At the same time there are 5,925
non-religious males and only 4,080. Interestingly, however, there are 150 male
that are Jewish and only 95 that preach Judaism. When it comes to Hindu, the
situation is the reverse: there twice as many Hindu women as there are Hindu
men.The largest men-women gap is in Catholicism: 32,310 women and only 29,600
men.
Religious Communities
Moncton is a home of many religious groups, large and small alike. The largest
religious community is Catholic, with 61,910 people seeing Vatican as their
religious Beacon. The second largest congregation is Protestant, with over
41,000 followers. Smaller congregations are Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist with
several hundred members, and Hindu, Sikh, Jains, Shinto, Taoism, Zoroastrism,
Aboriginal spirituality, Pagan, Wicca, Unity - New Thought - Pantheist,
Scientology, Rastafarian, New Age, Gnostic, Satanist with less than 100
members.
